February 7, 2012: The world’s fifth smartphone maker by shipments, HTC Corp is likely to produce and unveil four new mobile models at the Barcelona Mobile World Congress later in this month on February 26, 2012. These models will include an ultra-slim smartphone, codenamed as the HTC Ville, and one that will come equipped with advanced quad-core chips.

The HTC Ville is expected to feature a 4.3-inch AMOLED display and an 8-megapixel camera. It is more likely to on the latest version of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). While the other model will be sporting top-notch design and is likely to use a quad-core CPU. This model is codenamed as Edge. The other two models will be mid-range smartphones.

The enhanced designs and performances along with the absence of coming new models of the Samsung and Apple in this quarter are the factors that can give an excellent opportunity to HTC to regain its market shares to some extent. This is because, the analysts believe HTC came down to fifth position globally mainly due to incompetency in its models in front of the Apple Inc’s iconic iPhone and Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy range.
